‘Strike a Pose’ charity fashion show
Charity fashion show
Our charity fashion show promoted diversity and inclusivity, highlighting the experiences of breast cancer survivors. The women modelled outfits chosen to fit their style and shared their journeys to celebrate their strength. The ‘Strike a Pose’ show was held at Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton.
Our brief was to develop a campaign to organise and promote a charitable fashion show whilst generating excitement about the event through various media. The ‘Strike a Pose’ event aimed to spread breast cancer awareness in a fun and engaging way while delivering key messages to the community.
Breast cancer survivors celebrate diversity by strutting down the catwalk
The show highlighted the importance of diversity and inclusivity, especially among ethnic minority communities. Seven models were present, ranging from 30 to 70 years old, with two women of South Asian heritage, one of them 69 years old. Wolverhampton has th biggest Punjabi-speaking community. There were also two women of African Caribbean heritage. Breast cancer is a prevalent concern in the ethnic minority community. Unfortunately, lack of information, open discussions and stigma hinder women from getting checked.
The fashion show was an opportunity to address the lack of prosthetics that match different skin tones, especially for women in black and ethnic minority communities who have undergone a mastectomy due to breast cancer. This issue was brought to light during the awareness month, which provided an opportunity to promote the use of skin-toned prosthetics across the West Midlands.
